STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS

 

PAU provides opportunities for students at all stages of study to join the conversation and take action to address mental health issues worldwide. Several lab members have also been involved with international and national organizations related to traumatic stress studies. 

Association of Traumatic Stress Studies

Open to all Palo Alto University Students

The Association of Traumatic Stress Studies (ATSS) provides workshops, guest lectures, and opportunities for involvement in social action initiatives and professional conferences for students interested in research and practice focused on trauma. ATSS is a complimentary student organization to the Trauma Area of Emphasis at PAU.

Activities sponsored by ATSS include: 
• Guest speakers from national and international trauma programs and organizations doing mental health work internationally

• ATSS PRS Student Poster Awards • Activities and assistance for the PAU Trauma Area of Emphasis

Students for Global Mental Health

Open to all Palo Alto University Students

Students for Global Mental Health (SGMH) aims to engage students in meaningful discussion about global mental health issues. SGMH strives to create awareness of social, political, and cultural components shaping the expression and treatment of mental health as well as the variations and challenges to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health issues worldwide. The group hosts events and collaborates with local organizations involved in global mental health.

The Division 56 Student Affairs Committee is a nationwide network of graduate students with interests in trauma, as well as a forum in which students can participate in current academic conversations and events regarding cutting-edge work within the field of trauma.

Student Section

The ISTSS Student Section is a place where students can learn more about the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, the ISTSS annual meeting, information relevant to students, and training opportunities.
